Let’s Crack Up with Improv, is an exciting class that focuses on individual wellness, creativity, social interaction, and lots of laughter in a fun and supportive atmosphere. Attendees will participate in improvisational games designed to enhance memory, engage with other students and explore movement. This course is accessible to students of all skills and abilities.
Session 1, Oct 7th - All about “Yes and… “
Learn the first “rule” of Improv, Yes and….! To begin, we learn what “Yes and..” is all about. This is the foundation of improv performance and a great rule for life! We’ll also learn some basic Stage Presence techniques. All of the games are designed to reinforce these concepts.
Session 2, Oct 14th - Dare to be Foolish!
With this session we will delve into the absurd. Do you remember what being a kid with an imagination was like? Let’s play games that will re-spark your creativity and get silly!
Session 3, Oct 21st - Creating Characters!
In this session we’ll learn how to become someone else for a scene! It’s easier than you think! Learn how to be a character and stick with it throughout your scene with these simple tricks. The games we play in this session will help support these techniques.
Session 4, Oct 28th - Forming a Troupe & Planning for our BIG SHOW!
Together we will decide what games to show off our new skills with for your friends and families. We’ll come up with a name for our new troupe as well. This is a great opportunity for team building and bonding with the troupe!
Session 5, Nov 4th, The BIG SHOW!
Friends and family are invited for the second half of this session to see what this “improv stuff” is all about! Don’t worry if you’ve never performed before, we’ll have each other’s backs. That’s what improv is truly all about.
